Days away before the new year!
|
|
it's the time of the year again, where i reflect and look back on how much we have done for the year...and this year i am the happiest of course as we were able to showcase in MIFW'09 in malaysia.
i have a great team with me and i must give thanks to Allah for the guidance He has provided me throughout 
we had achieved our target for the year and we have successfully executed all the orders, so i have nothing to complain
thank you all for your support and look out for our upcoming cruisewear collection that will be launched during the colombo fashion week, insyallah...

It was an amazing show we put together for our debut appearance at the MIFW'09
I must thank the team that put this together in recorded time, Syeba for her confidence in us and the MIFA team who has been fantabulous ie michele,nirah,alice,joanne, and dear Jane.
The latest edition to our Asian Atelier family Ms Nadiya Sham (designer of 7 gorgeous kebaya dresses) and of course deanadenu accessories for hair which was handmade- very perfectly well as i imagined it to be..

Miss Universe/Malaysia 2009 - the national costume

chantiq skaly in collaboration with bibah songket presents the "onemalaysia" national costume for joannabelle, miss universe/malaysia 2009. Pageant will be approximately 1 mth from now in bahamas. It's so excitin for me and thank you to all for the -ve and +ve feedbacks at the official website of miss universe.

Mifa/KLFW
|

an opportunity to showcase our collection at the klfw with mifa as the organiser, things would definitely be nothin less than glam.
This could be a great platform to introduce our kebaya -not just an ethnic wear.
we shall c how it goes, time is also v v limited, i dont know if we can put it together in time 
hopin for the best! since the ny bridalshow isnt happenin for us due to the flu pandemic.
M excited to work on this one

hi all,
thank you for your support and recommendation to friends/families on our exclusive kebayas. I personally am very grateful and would say the year 2008 has been extremely busy and good.
2009, what has been planned for chantiq skaly amidst the worrying economic situation is firstly making our kebaya affordable. I am committed to provide quality kebayas at an affordable price.Our studio in damansara perdana,malaysia will be going through a minor renovation to accomodate the increasing customer base. We will also expand our accessories to include our handmade bridal shoe line,jewellery and veils from Asian Atelier.
The designs for s/s2009 can be viewed from our website as the new year reveals. As it reflects my quirky style and inspired by the little white dots theme (a wedding in sg) i call it as such - little white dots
I am looking forward to a great year and now need to focus on events that we will be hosting.

Kebaya designs then and now..
|

When we first started in 2001, Chantiq Skaly explored embroidery a lot and that was when I was intrigued by the embroidery work in Tasik Malaya, Bukit Tinggi and Uluwatu. Based on that we made the traditional nyonya kebayas and changed sleeve treatments etc.
In 2002, we were into kebaya with button closures in front and long tuxedo like cuttings. I was also exploring many types of batiks from different parts of Indonesia/Malaysia to pair it with. I was also intrigued with songkets of different backgrounds.
In 2003, things were a lot more exciting for us and we began exploring bridalwear..this took a much longer time to launch as it involves a lot of knowledge in pre-making and constructing. We looked at different partners to work with and Tinong became our exclusive partner for the international market. She was fabulous in traditional kebaya bridalwear. We work closely until today.
2004, we began our pre launches of different types of bridal kebaya- one of the most memorable ones were the longest train kebaya,theaterical collared kebaya, offshoulder kebayas and mandarin collared kebayas with took off real well a year later in 2005.
I was beginning to look far outside of Asia in 2006, victorian style and the 1950s weddings were beginning to have a lot of my attention. I was inspired by the puffed sleeves,leg O mutton sleeves and veils with headgear. This was then incorporated into my wedding attire the following year.
Today, I am going back to basics, following my instincts and created patchwork of laces for our kebayas for s/s08 and a/w08 inspired by my favourite javanese folklore,Nawang Wulan, I created the tiedye chiffon kebaya dress in 7 rainbow colors. I am also having fun making funky couture kebayas suitable for my age
Next year, the company, Asian Atelier will explore the big apple and I want to continue to work hard in designing and making kebaya an attire made for all.
